Mass & Dinner

One of our most popular events is our second and fourth Sunday mass and dinner. We, "young adults," make up the servers, lectors, EMs, ushers and music for the 6:00pm Mass at St. John's. If you would like to get involved please let us know, we ALWAYS need more participants! Mass is followed by an outing to a local spot or a themed dinner or pizza in the parish center. Join us for Mass even if you cannot make the dinner and vice versa!

Themed dinners are cooked by a dedicated team of volunteers drawn from our young adult community. Past themes have included Mediterranean, Indian, Oktoberfest, Thanksgiving, and Breakfast for Dinner! If you would like to contribute a dish or help with setup, please email contact@jacksyacs.com. We’d love to have more helpers!

Community Night

As a Catholic community, we believe it is important to get together for spiritual growth but that it is also necessary and possible to have fun and make real friendships in the process. The format varies each week, but we keep a balance of social and spiritual events. We hope our community nights are an integration of the two, because we acknowledge our social and spiritual needs go together. Social events have included movie night, holiday themed events in the city, board game night or going to a local bar. Additionally, we come together to pray a scriptural rosary, attend Eucharistic adoration, share in group discussions about relevant topics and watch and discuss documentaries about the Church. We are always finding and looking for new and different events to have!

Service Events

One of our most popular service events is homeless outreach. We make PB&J sandwiches and hand them out to our homeless neighbors around Center City, along with water bottles or juice. If they are open to it, we invite them to join us in prayer. We are always looking for more service events, and we share as we are made aware of them.  Occasionally we have the opportunity to assist the Capuchin Friars with their community events and outreach at the Padre Pio Prayer Center in Frankford (https://www.piocenter.org/).
