St. John's Parish Community has fostered two American saints, caught fire twice (destroyed once), withstood anti-Catholic riots, fed the hungry, educated poor children and adults, and served as the proto-cathedral for the Diocese of Philadelphia. Capuchin Franciscan Friars
The Capuchin Franciscan Friars of the St. Augustine Province have been responsible for managing St. John's Parish since 1991. They bring their unique Franciscan spirituality to the heart of Philadelphia in managing the parish in addition the surrounding ministries including chaplains at Jefferson Hospital, St. John's Hospice, Holy Redeemer Parish and many others.
